History

Celebrating 30 Years of TCAS

Amongst the busy industrial and agricultural landscape of Shropshire, Telford Compressed Air Services (TCAS) came into existence due to dissatisfaction with the customer service provided by a large UK distributor. Originally co-founded in 1994 by Dave Murray and ex-director, Alan Smith as they believed they could offer better service locally and launched Telford Compressed Air Services.

Compressed air is considered the fourth utility after gas, electricity, and water, crucial for various industries such as manufacturing, dairy, automotive, dentistry and intralogistics, many of which are found within the surrounding areas of Telford.

Operating with one service engineer a trade counter and equipment hiring in the beginning, TCAS quickly expanded their offerings to customers. The market for compressed air has evolved significantly since 1994, with advancements in technology presenting new challenges and opportunities.

Initially, TCAS operated from a 1,000 sq/ft unit at Castle Trading Est Priorslee, Telford, with just one employee. By the Millennium, the team had set their sights on expansion to Stafford Park 12.

In 2007/2008, TCAS launched their website, offering more products and services to customers further afield while continuing to innovate in such a fast-paced market. In 2014, their Dry Air 5 package plan was introduced to the market, continuing to bolster TCAS's reputation as a prominent leader in the industry.

With TCAS undergoing significant growth in 2019, the company relocated to Stafford Park 1. Despite facing challenges from the COVID-19 pandemic and post pandemic shortages, TCAS managed to react and adapt to market changes, whilst always prioritising health and safety for employees and customers.

With a strong team of 13 local employees, TCAS continues to be dedicated to keeping compressed air systems running smoothly and efficiently. Whether it's through services, products, or a mix of both, TCAS remains committed to exceeding customer service expectations, helping clients reduce energy consumption and maximise efficiency in their compressed air systems.

Looking ahead to the future, TCAS has plans to expand its existing sales team and service division, as well as launching a new web shop with the ability to buy over 10,000 products online.

As co-founder Dave Murray reflects on the remarkable journey that brought TCAS to where it is today, he is thankful for the unwavering support of their dedicated staff and loyal customers.
